Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland continues its tradition as a voluntary organisation, with an elected Board of Directors made up of voluntary members and parents in addition to Branches in some areas which are run by groups of local volunteers. The association has thousands of members nationwide consisting of those with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, their parents, siblings, family, friends and carers.
Their members have a wealth of knowledge and experience which is invaluable to the association and its future development.

In 1968, a small group of parents whose children had spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus established a voluntary organisation which would highlight awareness of these two conditions and support families, individuals and carers who were affected. Their determination and dedication resulted in the establishment of the Irish Association for spina bifida and hydrocephalus (IASBAH)
These parents were pioneers who laid the foundations for what is now a nationally recognised organisation. Their optimistic spirit encouraged them to affect real change with and for people who had the conditions, their families and carers.
In April 2008, the National Association of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland Ltd was formed and now trades as Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI).
The primary goal of this project was to create an inclusive, cohesive, and engaging online presence for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI) that serves its expansive community of individuals, families, and carers affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. The development of the SBHI Learning Hub was a pivotal step, offering a comprehensive educational platform where users can register and complete modules that increase awareness and understanding of these conditions.
Following the Learning Hub’s success, our aim expanded to redevelop SBHI’s main website, aligning its design, functionality, and accessibility with the Hub for a seamless user experience. This unified approach was designed to foster greater engagement, accessibility, and resource-sharing within the SBHI community, reinforcing the organisation’s mission of support, education, and advocacy across Ireland.
We had the privilege of building the new website for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI). Our initial project was focused on developing the SBHI Learning Hub, a comprehensive online resource designed to educate users about Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. The Learning Hub allows users to register, access, and complete various learning modules, providing valuable insights and raising awareness of these conditions.
The Hub’s overwhelming success highlighted the need for a cohesive online presence, which prompted us to redevelop SBHI’s main website. The goal was to align the look, feel, and functionality of the primary site with the Learning Hub, ensuring a seamless and unified user experience across both platforms. This redevelopment project has resulted in a more intuitive and visually consistent online space for the SBHI community, further enhancing engagement and accessibility. Were delighted to have been chosen to work on this project and working with Katy and Noelle was an absolute pleasure. We look forward to working on more projects with the team in future.
