Blacknight, one of Ireland’s leading web hosting providers, has introduced several significant updates over the past two years. These include the launch of a more user-friendly interface for their control panel, as well as the transition of email services from their own servers to Titan Mail, a well-established third-party mail provider. This blog post focuses on the latter change.
For some time, Blacknight continued to support email delivery through their own servers, offering a grace period for customers to update their settings. However, this grace period is now ending, with automated notifications being sent to customers urging immediate action.
Fortunately, updating your email settings is straightforward—but there are a few important considerations before proceeding. First, Titan Mail’s free tier includes only 3GB of storage. If your mailbox exceeds this limit, migration may fail and you may need to either reduce mailbox size or upgrade your Titan Mail plan. Second, updating your settings will require changes to the advanced settings on each device you use. This can be a time-consuming task, especially if you access email across multiple devices like phones, laptops, and tablets.
For clients on any FYREFLI support plan, we will be scheduling online meetings to remotely complete this update on your behalf—removing the hassle entirely. If you’re not currently on a support plan, feel free to contact us by email and we’ll be happy to advise on availability and pricing.
Below is a copy of the email containing the instructions from Blacknight;
We’re contacting you about a critical update to your email service.
As we complete our migration to Titan email, we will be retiring the legacy mail server settings that have been temporarily maintained. To ensure uninterrupted email access users must update their email client settings.
Why This Matters
If your email settings are not updated in time you will no longer be able to send or receive emails through your current email applications.
What You Need to Do
You need to update the connection (server) details on all devices and applications where you access your email (e.g. Outlook, Apple Mail, mobile apps).
How to Update: We’ve created a step-by-step guide to walk you through the process for both desktop and mobile clients.
Recommended: Use Titan Webmail
For the best and most secure experience, we recommend accessing your email through Titan Webmail. You can also download the official Titan mobile and desktop apps for an optimised experience.
